PROJECT CODE
HOG-R-04 (Residential Interiors & Architecture)
The Vertical Gallery Rationale: The project is anchored by a double-height vertical shelving system displaying tribal masks (totems), acting as the central spatial spine of the residence.
The Totem House explores the dialogue between vertical volume and domestic intimacy. Designed as a comprehensive residential turnkey project, the spatial planning centers around a dramatic double-height void connecting the ground and upper levels. This central spine is accentuated by a floor-to-ceiling timber shelving grid, curating a collection of tribal artifacts that lend the home its identity.
The material palette balances the coolness of white Italian marble flooring with the warmth of natural teak and walnut veneers. Lighting design plays a crucial role, shifting from architectural track lights in social areas to backlit mood elements, such as the celestial moon feature in the master suite. The residence defies standard static living by incorporating a kinetic architecture approach in the children’s wing, featuring integrated slides and ceiling-mounted climbing frames. From the high-gloss precision of the kitchen to the tactile roughness of the slate-clad guest bedroom, the project is a study in textural contrast and functional elegance.
