PROJECT CODE:

HOG-R-05

The name reflects the dominant grey tonal palette paired with recurring botanical and arboreal motifs (forest wallpapers, palm prints) throughout the apartment.

This residential project, The Monochrome Grove, explores the nuance of a greyscale palette enriched by tactile textures and biophilic narratives. The spatial planning emphasizes a seamless flow between social and private zones, anchored by a central living space that utilizes a grisaille forest mural to establish a serene, atmospheric depth. The design language oscillates between modern precision—seen in the fluted glass kitchen partitions and clean geometric joinery—and organic warmth, introduced through rattan elements and rust-colored velvet accents.

The lighting strategy employs a mix of architectural track lights and statement decorative fixtures, such as the globe chandelier in the dining area, to create hierarchy and mood. Custom joinery creates a cohesive identity across the home, from the dark, moody study-bedroom to the playful, light-filled children's quarters featuring geometric abstraction. The result is a disciplined yet inviting habitat that balances contemporary rigor with domestic comfort.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

  • Biophilic Murals: Use of full-wall wallpapers (forest, palm, animal print) to act as primary art installations and spatial anchors.
  • Textural Contrast: Juxtaposition of soft tufted velvets against rigid materials like marble, fluted glass, and vertical wood slats.
  • Zoning via Partitioning: implementation of sliding fluted glass doors in the kitchen to maintain visual connectivity while controlling acoustics and fumes.
  • Integrated Workspace: A dedicated, custom-built home office setup within the bedroom joinery, utilizing vertical storage to maximize floor plate efficiency.
  • Geometric Play: The children's room utilizes triangular wall decals and modular open cubbies to differentiate it from the formal adult spaces.
