PROJECT CODE
HOG-R-08 (The Earthen Narrative)
The name references the recurring architectural arch motifs and the dominant use of heavily textured, earthy limewash surfaces throughout the residence.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Tactile Arc represents a serene dialogue between Wabi-Sabi textures and contemporary neoclassical planning. Defined by a rigorously curated material palette, the residence moves away from sterile minimalism toward a warmer, sensory-driven living environment. The spatial narrative begins in the social areas, where lime-washed walls and soft architectural curves soften the structural grid, complemented by rustic timber ceiling beams and organic rattan lighting.
A defining olive-green wainscoted corridor acts as the project’s spine, transitioning the user from the open-plan living zones to the private quarters. The design thoughtfully integrates cultural requirements, featuring a custom wood-and-glass Puja niche that doubles as a partitioned workspace, maintaining visual connectivity while ensuring privacy. The private chambers explore distinct color theories—from deep terracotta and rust tones in the guest suite to calming neutrals and soft pastels in the master, unified by the consistent use of fluted joinery and tactile textiles.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
- Architectural Softening: The use of large-scale arches and curved recesses in the living and bedroom areas to break rigid rectilinear lines.
- Material Continuity: A consistent application of textured limewash paint across walls and ceilings creates a cave-like, enveloping atmosphere.
- Transitional Spaces: The corridor is treated as a destination rather than a passage, utilizing olive wainscoting and track lighting to create a gallery effect.
- Cultural Integration: A fluted glass and black metal partition system elegantly houses the Puja and home office, blending tradition with industrial modernity.
- Biophilic Elements: Integration of indoor planting, including a large olive tree within the bedroom window bay, blurring the indoor-outdoor boundary.
- Joinery Detailing: Extensive use of fluted wardrobe fronts and vanity units in varying hues (terracotta, sage green, and plum) to add rhythm and depth.
